Designed as a traditional northern Thai Mahout (elephant trainer) village, our onsite working Thailand Elephant Camp is the setting for our most sought after Golden Triangle resort activities, offering the chance to interact with elephants in a stunning natural environment while helping to contribute to the conservation efforts of the resort.
Rated amongst the finest Chiang Rai resorts Anantara Golden Triangle offers its guest the chance to discover the region the way it was meant to be explored: from atop an elephant. Our acres of bamboo jungle and riverside trails are the setting for leisurely ambles atop these gentle giants. Start your day with a morning trek along the Ruak River – as close to Burma as you can get without a passport.
Learn the delicate art of Thai cuisine, including some distinctly northern specialties. Visit the local market with the chef, learn to choose fresh produce and indigenous ingredients, then spend the morning preparing rustic but delectable curries, soups, appetizers and traditional desserts.
Savour one of the world’s most rare and expensive coffees, in which the best Thai Arabica beans are digested by our elephants to create almost no bitterness, before being deposited, handpicked and sundried. Then enjoy an aromatic tableside serving experience, as the beans are ground by hand and brewed in the world’s most beautiful high tech machine for a clean and flavourful taste. You’ll also be helping all of Thailand’s elephants with every single cup, since 8% of sales are donated to the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation.
Try your hand at Thailand’s age-old rice cultivation methods in our own private rice paddies. As the staple food of Thailand, rice plays an important role in the daily life of Thai people. Farmers (“Chau Na” in Thai) transfer their knowledge of rice cultivation from one generation to the next and through this interactive local activity you will learn the ageless techniques for yourself.
Surrounded by the lush forest landscape, a fully equipped fitness centre is located onsite, complete with treadmills, exercise bikes, weights equipment (including free weights) and even an indoor squash court.
Start the day with a ride to nearby Sai Thung reservoir; an unforgettable and invigorating mountain-biking experience whether you’re a beginner or seasoned athlete.
Contribute to Anantara’s conservation work and leave behind a noble monument to your visit that will last for years to come. Plant a tree at Anantara and help us keep the local environment green. We’ll print a plaque or dedication with your name and care for your tree until you visit again.
Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort is proud to be the site of the most idyllic pools in all of Asia, frequently highlighted in the global travel media. Float in the infinity edged pool looking down over the tree canopy towards the Mekong River and up to the green hills of Myanmar and Laos. Alternate with a soothing soak in the adjacent Jacuzzi.
Enrich your mind, body and soul with the power of Hatha yoga. Be guided by our qualified and nurturing instructors through a series of age-old breathing techniques and gentle stretching and bending postures. One of our most special Golden Triangle resort activities, these classes are perfect for beginners or experienced yoga practitioners, and you can even book tailor-made classes either in your room or overlooking the resort’s stunning surroundings.
